Day 18: Hope Anchors Me | Lamp & Lily | Kingdom Creations by Lily
An anchor does not stop the storm. It keeps the boat from drifting while the storm passes.
That is the picture Hebrews gives us of hope in Christ. It does not promise calm water every day. It promises that your soul does not have to be tossed around by every wave.
Scripture
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Hebrews 6:19
Hope that holds
The world often uses hope as a wish: "I hope it works out." Biblical hope is different. It is confident expectation rooted in who God is and what He has already done.
Your feelings may rise and fall, but the anchor holds because it is fastened to something steady.
When the waves are loud
There are seasons when worry, grief, or uncertainty feel louder than faith. In those moments, hope is not something you manufacture. It is something you hold on to.
Return to His promises. Read them out loud. Let them remind your heart where it is anchored.
Firm and secure
The anchor is described as firm and secure. It is not fragile. It does not depend on how strong you feel today.
You may drift in your thoughts, but you are not adrift in His care.
Today's affirmation
My hope is anchored in Christ, firm and secure.
Today's prayer
Jesus, be the anchor for my soul. When I feel tossed by worry, hold me steady and remind me that my hope is secure in You. Amen.
Reflection question
What wave is pulling at your heart right now, and what promise can you hold on to?
