Day 7: Rest in Him | Lamp & Lily | Kingdom Creations by Lily
Scripture
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28
You can come while you are weary
Jesus does not ask the weary to become strong before coming to Him. His invitation meets us in the middle of our tiredness, not on the other side of it.
You can come with the prayer you do not know how to finish. You can come with disappointment, an overloaded schedule, or a heart that feels stretched between too many needs.
There is no need to make your burden sound smaller than it is. In prayer, you can be honest about what you are carrying and what you cannot carry alone.
Rest begins here: not with a perfectly peaceful feeling, but with turning toward Jesus as you are.
Rest is not a reward for finishing everything
Perhaps you have been waiting for permission to pause. You tell yourself you will rest when the house is settled, the work is complete, or everyone else has what they need.
But there may always be another task. Today, consider whether you have made rest something you must earn instead of something you are allowed to receive.
Resting in Jesus does not mean pretending your responsibilities have disappeared. It means bringing those responsibilities to Him without treating every outcome as yours to control.
You can care deeply and still have limits. You can be faithful and still need sleep, a quiet moment, or help from someone you trust.
Place one burden in His hands
Instead of trying to untangle every worry at once, name one thing that feels heavy today. Be specific: a decision, an expectation, a conversation, or a fear about tomorrow.
Then pray simply: “Jesus, this is what I am carrying. Help me see what is mine to do and what I need to entrust to You.”
Perhaps your next faithful step is to make a phone call. Perhaps it is to ask for support, put away your work for the evening, or let a nonessential task wait.
You do not have to force yourself to feel different immediately. Let this pause be a place of honesty and care, rather than another thing to accomplish.
Today’s affirmation
I find rest in the presence of Jesus.
Repeat these words slowly. Give yourself a moment to receive them without rushing toward the next thing.
Today’s prayer
Jesus, quiet my heart and help me rest in Your care today. Amen.
Reflection question
What burden can you place in Jesus’ hands today? Write it down, then name one practical way you can make room for rest?
