Day 6: Made New | Lamp & Lily | Kingdom Creations by Lily
Scripture:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”2 Corinthians 5:17
A new identity, not another performance.
Being made new in Christ is not an invitation to pretend you have never struggled. It is an invitation to stop letting your struggles have the final word about who you are.
Notice where this promise begins: “if anyone is in Christ.” It does not begin with having a perfect morning routine, getting every decision right, or finally becoming someone who never needs help. The focus is on belonging to Jesus, not proving ourselves worthy of a fresh start.
You can acknowledge where you have fallen short without making shame your home. You can ask for forgiveness, take responsibility, and begin again without calling yourself a failure.
Letting go of what no longer belongs.
Sometimes the old things we carry are easy to recognize. Other times, they sound like familiar thoughts: “I will never change.” “I always get it wrong.” “There is no point in trying again.”
Today, gently notice those thoughts without treating them as truth. Bring them into prayer and ask whether they reflect the new life you are learning to walk in.
Perhaps your next step is replacing harsh self-talk with a moment of honest prayer. Perhaps it is apologizing, setting a healthy boundary, or asking a trusted person to support you as you work on a difficult habit.
Releasing something to God does not always mean the struggle disappears immediately. It can mean choosing, again and again, not to face it alone.
Growing into the new
Being made new does not mean you must have everything figured out today. There is room to learn, to receive help, and to practice a different response.
Think of one ordinary moment ahead of you. A conversation, a decision, or a few quiet minutes could become an opportunity to live from your identity in Christ rather than an old label.
You do not need to fix your whole life before taking that step. Begin with an honest heart and a willingness to follow Jesus today.
Today’s Affirmation:
In Christ, I am made new.
Say these words slowly, and notice where they feel difficult to believe. Bring that place to God rather than judging yourself for it.
Today’s Prayer:
Jesus, renew my heart and help me embrace the new life You give. Amen.
Reflection Question:
What old thought or habit are you ready to release to God? Write about one small step you can take today to respond differently, with His help.
